Annual Meeting Minutes

More and more we hear in the media, from politicians, and the financial analysts the need to acknowledge the potential impacts associated with the environmental aspects of business, including impacts that are cited as global climate change. Whether through a Corporate Social Responsibility report, a Sustainability Report to the community, or a more formalized reporting system supported by a third-party organization like the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, there is more pressure on the business community to bring Sustainability into the daily conversation and to share data and results with stakeholders. However, Sustainability is more than just “Being Green.” Business has to strike a balance between environmental, business, and community obligations. Hence the theme for this year’s annual meeting:

Navigating the Road To A Sustainable Energy Future

It is impossible to make or do anything without energy. The cost of energy impacts everything we make or do. Without a sustainable source of Energy there is no future.

Our member companies provide goods and services that support the social and economic well-being and contribute to this great nation we call home. They make products and provide services that improve the communities we live in and allow increased life expectancy and a standard of living that allows and promotes environmental stewardship and progress. Sustainability at the corporate and institutional level will continue to be the mantra of the activist – share holder or environmentalist. CIBO’s expertise integrating energy and environmental issues is one way we can help our members define, plan, and implement a sustainable business future.

This year’s Annual Meeting will consider how we do that while continuing to beat back the day to environmental compliance, enforcement and permitting problems within a new energy era and drastically changing workforce demographic.
